Abbots Langley 97 for 10 wickets 5 pts Chorleywood win by 11 Runs. Chorleywood U14A kicked off their 2010 cricket season on a wet pitch and in poor light away against Abbots Langley. Tom Wilson fell quickly LBW but his opening partner Harry Brooks weathered the early storm and was playing fluently before he was also given out LBW for 18. Jonny Bryer played cautiously for 19 but Matt Rose blazed his way to an unbeaten 50, the innings of the match. Hitting 2x6’s and 7x4’s he made a mockery of the conditions and dominated the AL bowling. Vikash Dodhia and Dom Proctor then ran well in pushing the score up to 108 for 3 at the end of the 20 overs. A measured 47 from Chhanabhai steadied the ship but wickets continued to fall at the other end. The CW spinners settled things with Josh Ryan taking 2 for 19 in 4 overs and Harry Brooks 2 for 16 in 4 overs leaving AL with too much to do as the light deteriorated. Matt Rose and Harry Hardcastle each took a wicket at the end to bowl AL out for 97 leaving them 12 runs short of victory. The CW fielding was excellent in very difficult conditions with Jonny Bryer taking two tremendous catches, Dominic Proctor, Vikash Dodhia and Chris Naisby also excelled. Harry Hardcastle on debut took 2 for 17 in 4 overs including an excellent caught and bowled. |
